Thursday Two-fer: "Countdown!" by Ralph Reese and "Message from Beyond" by Oleck and Reese

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Two, count 'em, two far-out fear fables from the pencil and pen of amazing Ralph Reese! The first, "Countdown!" from House of Mystery #195 (August 1971), was written and drawn by young Ralph while still showing great dedication to his mentor, Wally Wood's, style. Check out this short sci-fi shocker about a murderous mission to Mars..."Countdown!"

Next, from House of Mystery #223 (December 1973) a more seasoned Mr. Reese provides a slick and moody art job for Jack Oleck's "Message From Beyond"! Check it out!

  1. Ralph Reese did some excellent work during his too short time in mainstream comics (returning briefly in the 90s to do some inking work for Valiant). There was the really good Wally Wood style story in Web of Horror # 3. And check out the early Skyward Psychos and Nightmares for some great examples of his later style.
